The Center of Higher Learning, in conjunction with the University of Southern Mississippi and Pearl River Community College, is pleased to offer the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree program at the John C. Stennis Space Center. This 120-hour undergraduate degree program is offered as a “2 + 2" hybrid program at Stennis, with students taking classes from Pearl River Community College (PRCC) for the first half of the program and from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) for the second half of the program. Classes will be offered in a variety of formats - online classes, interactive video classes, and in-person instructor-led lectures.
Pearl River Community College
PRCC has offered freshman- and sophomore-level classes at SSC for many years. Classes are taught by in-person instructors at a convenient time, i.e., 4:30pm one day per week. Most classes are taught in the Bldg. 1100 Conference Center. Students will be able to take first- and second-year basic academic classes from PRCC at the Stennis Space Center.
The University of Southern Mississippi
The College of Business at the University of Southern Mississippi offers the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. Business Administration is a broad major that prepares students for careers in a wide range of businesses. It is designed for those students wishing to pursue business careers but who do not necessarily wish to specialize in one of the more “traditional” fields of business. The variety of upper level business courses provides students with the expertise in developing and maintaining a business of their own.
Business Administration majors receive instruction in accounting, economics, statistics, finance, management, information systems, taxes, insurance, human resources, retail or direct marketing, and more. Careers for the BSBA major are found in many sectors including government, education, private business and retail. A degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in entrepreneurship prepares you for the challenges and opportunities in small-business management or ownership. It also provides a foundation for further graduate study in business.
Before students can register for classes, they must first be admitted to the school of their choice (i.e., PRCC or Southern Miss). The procedure varies by school, but in general students should complete an application for admission and send transcripts from all previously-attended schools and universities. The Center of Higher Learning, located in Bldg. 1103 at Stennis, can serve as your one-stop shop for the admission process. We have all of the forms necessary for students to complete the admission process, and can forward documents to each school.
Students should be academically advised by a counselor from the University of Southern Mississippi College of Business prior to the Admissions process. To set up an appointment, please call Keith Long of the Center of Higher Learning (SSC) at 228- 688-7662. Additionally, students should bring a copy of their college transcript(s) with them to the appointment; unofficial transcript copies are sufficient for advisement.
