The Center of Higher Learning offers a wide variety of short-term, non-academic training classes to the Stennis community. These classes include Microsoft Office computer classes, Information Technology (IT) certification courses, Federal Acquisition and contract management classes, and more.
The Center of Higher Learning has the unique flexibility to contract for specialized non-academic technical training from universities and qualified consulting firms from across the United States and offer these classes to all organizations and employees at the Stennis Space Center. This capability allows the employees of Stennis to remain current in their fields, gain new knowledge in highly complex and specialized areas, and allows organizations to remain technologically competitive.

CHL and Pearl River Community College Workforce Development have joined forces to offer the full range of Microsoft Office computer classes in our computer lab, in addition to Microsoft Project and Microsoft Publisher courses. These classes are offered in the CHL Computer Training Lab and are available to all employees of the Stennis Space Center. IT Software Training / IT Certification
CHL and New Horizons Computer Learning Center have formed a partnership to provide a full range of technical computer IT courses at Stennis. Many of these classes lead to IT certification. All classes are taught in the CHL Computer Training Lab in Bldg. 1103.

Federal Acquisition-Related / Federal Contract Management Training
The Center of Higher Learning is pleased to offer the teaching services of Harry D. Cleaver, Jr., CPCM, CPE, who is a university-based continuing education instructor from Huntsville, Alabama. Over the past ten years of teaching at the John C. Stennis Space Center, Harry has developed 10 one-day core courses tailored for local students. The Center of Higher Learning “Federal Acquisition-Related” courses cover the major aspects of the federal acquisition process, from beginning to end, and give the student a solid understanding of the entire federal procurement system.
Stennis-based organizations can arrange for any or all of these classes to be offered onsite at a time convenient to you and your organization. The full list of available classes can be found here.
CHL Computer Training Labs
The Center of Higher Learning has two (2) fully equipped high-end computer training labs in Bldg. 1103 that are available for the Stennis Space Center community to lease for computer training. Lab #1 has 20 student computers and 1 instructor computer. These machines run Windows 7, have 16GB of memory, and 1 TB hard-drives. Lab #2 has 15 student computers and 1 instructor computer. These machines also have Windows 7, have 16GB of memory, and 1 TB hard-drives.
Both computer labs have projectors connected to the instructor's computer, whiteboards, and wired or wireless Internet access. Unique student accounts can be created along with personal storage space. Software includes Microsoft Office 2010 (Excel, Powerpoint, Word & Access), ArcGIS 9.3, Imagine ERDAS, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. Special software requests can be made.
